Paediatric First Aid

Our Paediatric first aid courses are designed to meet the requirements for everybody who works in a child care setting or early years setting and are responsible for the welfare of children. Our courses are accredited and meets EYFS/Ofsted requirements. We offer both the emergency paediatric – 6 hours and full Paediatric first aid – 12 course, we also offer a blended Emergency First aid at work and Emergency Paediatric first aid.

Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

How long will it take?

The Emergency Paediatric first aid is over 6 hours, this can be delivered with a blended learning approach, working with an online package for 2 hours the face to face hours can reduce to just 4.

What will the course teach me?

  • The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first-aider
  • Assessing an emergency situation safely
  • CPR and AED
  • Managing a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Administering first aid to a choking infant or child
  • Placing a child in the recovery position

Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

This course takes just 12 hours to complete. It can be delivered in several ways including over four, three-hour sessions. This qualification can also be delivered with a blended learning approach that will reduce face to face by six hours, where you study in your own time and must complete the E-learning prior to the face to face training that will be conducted over six hours.

  • Administering first aid to a choking infant or child
  • Placing a child in the recovery position
  • Administering emergency first aid in a child with chronic medical condition or sudden illness
  • Bites and stings
  • Head injuries
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding and shock

Assessment

Both theses course comprises of practical and theory assessment. We deliver this with a continuous assessment approach with a multiple choice question set at the end of the course.

This course is legally compliant with Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 . We deliver accredited courses, this allows you to evidence due diligence with at any further paperwork and it ensures you that the course you receive it current, in date and relevant to the subject.

The qualification is valid for three years after which a requalification course will allow you to remain a qualified first aider.

Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid Course

Heathcote Training's Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid Course is perfect for anyone working in environments that need both workplace and paediatric first aiders, such as schools, nurseries, childcare settings, and sports clubs.

This 3-day course combines the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF), reducing the number of training days while covering all essential topics. You'll learn life-saving skills for adults, children, and infants, including CPR, defibrillation, treating choking, strokes, head injuries, asthma, and much more.
